New York’s always been a stable of hip-hop done with a style for persuasion, and Taylorman proudly carries on this tradition. All of the samples and sounds of his tracks are vintage boom-bap, but the rhyme patterns are denser, and the beats have a younger, wavier feel.
A perfect example of classic sounds meets modern energy, Taylorman brings something fresh and different to the table. His latest song “Power Couple” is the first single from Taylorman’s debut double album titled “Resurrection Hip Hop/R&B Edition”. The single is an entertaining and fun-loving song that sheds light on the importance of bonding. Taylorman plays off on his past release which certainly sees him growing on each track, the sky’s certainly the limit for him.

Hip-hop’s future is uncertain, and trying to predict where this culture and music is headed is foolish. However, there’s still a place in the current rap landscape for classic boom-bap and the traditional aesthetic rooted in the history and music of New York City. Taylorman will release his follow-up single / complimented video ‘Way of The World” on September 11th, 2021. The song is packed with a meaningful message with an emphasis on police brutality, sex, racism, and discrimination.

As long as artists like Taylorman above keep innovating, and keep pushing the ways that the boom-bap umbrella can meet modern sounds and contemporary lyricism, there’s always going to be a place for the vintage roots of hip-hop in rap’s evolution.
