People often complain about the lack of lyricists in Hip Hop’s new generation. The problem is that those people are wrong. While the lyrically proficient MCs might not be getting the major looks like their melodic counterparts, they’re still out there and dropping excellent music worthy of recognition. Bina is a Kurdish Hip-hop artist who has been one of the most conceptually creative acts to emerge in the underground circuit. The young up-and-coming artist seems to be bringing back and evolving a classical sound. He raps in English and oddly enough he lives in Tokyo! His latest single titled “Halloween” featuring fellow Kurdish rapper Hawar is a compelling exchange between two different techniques and styles of rap. Bina delivers a rather dark but transgressive verse, while Hawar raps dynamically in Kurdish instead. It certainly is the best of both worlds and an experience in itself. Bina has quite the social media presence as well, from singles to freestyle videos, the young Kurdish rapper never ceases to amaze! Songs such as “Dirty City Freestyle”, and “My Valintine” show the versatility and range from Bina, something that sets him apart from other artists as well. Each song is different and tells a story of its own. Bina’s structure and overall tone of rap bring meaning to each song. There is always a message or idea portrayed through his music. The creative process for Bina seems to be endless, with each song bringing something new to the table. It will be interesting to hear what he plans next. Perhaps an album? Well, whatever that may be we encourage others to check his music out and support the come up!
